Today I finished an adorable book called...
The Espressologist.

The Espressologist was an AMAZING 5 star book, here's the summary:
What’s your drink of choice? Is it a small pumpkin spice latte? Then you’re lots of fun and a bit sassy. Or a medium americano? You prefer simplicity in life. Or perhaps it’s a small decaf soy sugar-free hazelnut cafe latte? Some might call you a yuppie. Seventeen-year-old barista Jane Turner has this theory that you can tell a lot about a person by their regular coffee drink. She scribbles it all down in a notebook and calls it Espressology.
So it’s not a totally crazy idea when Jane starts hooking up some of her friends based on their coffee orders. Like her best friend, Em, a medium hot chocolate, and Cam, a toffee nut latte. But when her boss, Derek, gets wind of Jane’s Espressology, he makes it an in-store holiday promotion, promising customers their perfect matches for the price of their favorite coffee. Things are going better than Derek could ever have hoped, so why is Jane so freaked out? Does it have anything to do with Em dating Cam? She’s the one who set them up! She should be happy for them, right?
The Espressologist was such a cute book! I loved how Kristina Springer described the different coffee flavors and how she makes the coffee, it made me want to just cuddle up by the fireplace and have a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa! This book had a lot of humor, and I really liked the main character, Jane Turner. I do think some of the characters could have been more developed, but other than that, it was such a great book! This is great to read over the holidays, because that's when it takes place! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, cute and frothy read that you'll totally savor!! :)

Nice write up! I like when an author can use descriptions that make you almost taste what is being described. I saw a movie with a similar theme but cannot remember the name of it. The barrista guy would judge customers and then tell them what THEIR drink should be. One woman insisted she just wanted her regular coffee and ....
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cute story! I love coffee (I'm a black coffee drinker, *maybe* a splash of milk), and I think the main character may be on to something. What a neat way to try to get some insight into people's personalities. I like the matchmaking angle.
